Nice one - I will read that properly tomorrow when a tad less inebriated. However...do you (or anyone else) have any recommendations for kit for said purpose?

If we're talking less than half a ton, I quite fancy a play

Great write up Matt, only scanned through it for now, but I will take a better full look when I get home.

Like the way you say to just use a standard tripod on suction cups, interesting to know, what about the stuff from Fast Films?

Kit wise, I have some of these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HEAVY-DUTY-DUAL

to stick to the car,

one of these:

Some of these to bolt things together:

a Manfrotto tripod and a few long pieces of aluminium tubing.

I have taken a few shots with this kit but so far nothing that I am overly happy with. Need more practice.

Nice tutorial Matt, cheers

Goes to show just how much time it takes to get these right. I'm inclined to think that car to car is much easier for most types of shots but of course there are certain angles that can only be done with a rig.

Actually, I'm currently still rig-less - any recommendations on best place(s) to acquire the relavent bits without having to default on mortgage payments?

I think the prices are pretty stable. You just need 8 superclamps and the little pins that hold the clamps together and 3 suction cups, all available from manfrotto. Try warehouseexpress?

He's punning on the thread title.

Rig shot on a Mini rather than a mini tutorial.

I bought a rig of sorts in September and it's still sitting in the spare room unused. I haven't really felt inspired to use it but this might help, cheers Matt

the clamps are cheapest from tenco. bought some the other day to make my rig bigger

use TECNO5 to get 5% off

Doesn't just work for cars - you just need a bigger rig . . .
