You guys will get bored of the questions before I buy this bloomin' car.

Just wondering what the standard security was on a pre face lift Boxster S? Is a Cat 1 alarm standard and was a tracker an option or standard?

Tracker definitely an option. Cat 1 as standard I believe.

Cat 1 is standard on a UK car. "Thatcham Category One" (as in Thatcham, Surrey) is a UK only standard. I believe a non-UK car can be programmed to meet Cat 1 standards, but the OPC know how to charge for itrolleyes

The car comes as standard with an immobiliser and a reasonable sophisticated alarm. I got a letter from my OPC when I bought the car certifying that the system was "Thatcham 1" compliant.

Mine is fitted with a Tracker Monitor - on the previous car I had Tracker Horizon (GPS). These days Porsche don't fit Tracker devices as they fit their own brand "Porche Vehicle Tracking System" or some such thing. Pound to a pinch its a rebranded Tracker or similar...

If you buy a UK car it will have a sufficient alarm system, therefore, and *may* have a tracking device. I doubt if the insurance company will insist on a pre-facelift being fitted with a Tracker if it doesn't have it as, by now, the car's value will have got below the threshold. Many companies insist on a tracking device if the value is over 30 or 35 K for example. By now these cars are worth under that so...
