Firstly a BIG thank you to all the guys who contributed to my recent questions regarding injector problems, the blessed thing is alive and well again!!! yippeeeeee
Now then, 'a cautionary tale' the problem was, non firing injectors, after inspecting all the usual suspects, and going through every test in the EFI pdf and coming up with a strange set of multi-meter readings, progressed to the next steps, replaced the ecu then the air flow meter, ignition module and coil but still had no luck. Well then the problem has finally been found!

A small piece of spring steel 10x10mm had lodged itself across the distributor sensor underneath the flash cover in the dizzy, the words OH FFS! sprang to mind! the said piece of tin is the spring clip off the female part of the rotor arm that holds it in place on the dizzy shaft, this one was not from the current rotor I might add but probably from a previous one, so the motto of this story is check when you remove the rotor arm that the springy thingy is still attatched or you may end up chasing a very unusual problem!

Well done - attention to detail gets there in the end. Remind us all - was the spark OK while this thing was in there?

I've very glad you found it .. swapping parts does mean that you eliminate each part and it normally costs nothing..

But I am confused - as to how this was the problem and yet you thought you had a good spark..

Oh well - one of lifes misteries.

Really glad you cracked it and hope to see you at the BBWF.

Weird eh? BIG fat spark at plugs but no low voltage trigger for the ECU, never come across anything like it and hope to never again!!
Can only think that may be in some way it was causing something to act like a capacitor and only giving an occasional discharge to the coil

Yeah weird - what about the rate of the sparks - were they click-click-click nice and fast while cranking, or just the occasional click? Tell you what - if you check them now it's fixed, are they different? If you were only getting 1 or 2 in 8 sparks, that would explain it.

Perhaps that the ignition amplyfier was affected, and this provides a signal to the ECU? And thus causing you a lot of grief. You have assembled a lot of experience and spare parts in the process, nothing can stop you now!

Damn right! all I need is another wiring loom and I have a complete 'FOOL' injection system!
Checked the spark rate Adam, and you are right spark rate is much higher!
Off out for a run in it tomorrow to make sure everything is back to normal, well as normal as a TVR can be! lol
