Yep I'd also say they're BGF MT's. I'm sad enough to notice that you can just about read the white lettering on the inside of the off side tyre and looks like the end of "Mud terrain T/A". I've got the Goodyear Wrangler MTR's on my 90 and the side wall pattern is not the same as on that P38 so all points to BFG's. Good choice of tyre.

Yep your right! Great tyre. I used to use them as a road biased tyre on my comp defender. On the road there nearly as good as a road tyre!! Ive got a set in 35" and even they are nice on the road.

Another quick question if anyone's still there ... what do you think the maximum size tyre for the standard 16 inch alloys on the p38 is, without rubbing?

I'd like to go a little bigger than the standard road tyre is possible,.

THanks

I think you could get away with 265/75. But im not 100% I know someone with 255/85 but it has to be kept on full ride hieght.

I had 305/25 r22!! on a p38 once. That was a tight fit!!

Thanks. I'm assuming that it would be better to remove the front mudflaps too.

All mud flaps. And side steps(although these can prevent a bit of sill damage) Watch out for the front valence!
