I am looking for a C2 (maybe a C4) and would like PSM for added safety.

It appears that Tiptronic cars have Traction control as standard and some have the optional PSM.

What is the difference between Traction Control and the PSM ?

I thought PSM was Traction Control.

TC only helps the rear wheels to find traction, i.e. adjusting power to grip level. PSM does that plus using the breaks selectively to keep the car on track in case you might have overdone it a little bit

TC - Traction Control only worked on the back wheels, whereas PSM had sensors on all 4 wheels and was a much more sophisticated set up, sensing throttle opening, steering angle input, pitch, yaw and g-forces acting on the vehicle and had a much better job of keeping drivers on the road. PSM was standard on all C4 models and optional on C2 models from about MY 2000. Prior to that TC was the only option available. I think that's about it but I'm sure I'll be corrected!

Traction control is an option whether a manual or tip, available from launch (1997) I think. PSM standard on C4, optional on C2 from 2000/2001ish(?). In normal use, neither come into play very much. But there again, it's there to save you when you might really need it, hopefully avoiding anything happening that would deploy the airbag, which is there for the same reason.....as is ABS, as is a seatbelt etc etc...........
