At the risk of sounding like Eddy No Friends...

I've spend all day cleaning the car & soon I'm setting off for Appleton to watch golf & drink beer. Good.

Now, as I recall that Flirford Heath pub where the Ox. TVR bunch meet is just around the corner. So if I set of now I'll get there for opening, have a swift pint, then bugger off in time to meet chums. What a plan eh?

SO, on the off-chance that anyone nearby fancies a crafty pint, before family duties or whatever... I will get there about 6.45 ish - blue Griffith

Boy what a hangover. Stoopid golf (plus brandy)

When I finally arrived at the Dog (took longer than I remembered) and hit the bar, I was told the pub was only open for residents that particular night.

I'd be up for an Oxfordshire meet - driven past the Dog House a few times but never been in there, what beer do they do there? (not that i'd be able to sample it of course if driving )

Have to admit it's not the best oxon pub I've ever been to, but I expect it was chosen as the Oxon meet location as it's easy to find & has a large car park. Didnt get as far as the beers there last night!

Next time I'm up that way I might do a 'dry' pub crawl & see if I cant find something a bit more... erm... Oxfordshireish

The beer's not too bad. Used to be local brewery Morland which was taken over by Greene King so it's IPA, Abbot Ale and Morland Original - Old Speckled Hen if you're lucky. We agree with you about the venue, most of the Oxford member attendees are from the south and west and with the big car park it's convenient. In the past we've met at The Fox, Bessels Leigh; The White Hart, Wytham and the Rock of Gibraltar Bletchingdon.
