alloy radiator fitting

removed my old rad today ready for the new radtec alloy one, and noticed 2 things

1-the old rad had one locating bottom lug missing!

2-the lugs just locate into a hole in the bodywork, no grommet, and the hole seems a lot bigger than the lug so the rad has potential to 'rattle' in position. anybody come across this? and suggestions? thanks in advance

Lay it on some foam pipe lagging will also stop any air getting around it

I would make a grommet, just cut some rubber hose to slide over the lugs at the bottom, rubber washers (or the same hose) can be used on the top (side) mounts. You may find it easier just to buy some generic grommets and hole them. I would definitely use rubber mounts to allow for the flexing & vibration damping.

Forgot to say... i also put grommets on the lugs

When I removed my rad for painting it had rubber grommet type washers on the lugs. When I put it back in I used the rubber glands out of electrical fittings.

sorted it today, the rad lugs were about 10mm in diameter, and a washing machine hose sleeved it perfectly and also fitted the body snugly, so firstly i put 10mm rubber washers over the pegs, then used aroldite to bond the hose to them, worked a treat! the radtec alloy rad fitted perfectly and i didnt have to cut down the lugs on the side, just had to drill them. its a nice piece of kit, very well made and light too.
