Try here: www.renegadehybrids.com/

Not a specifically Rover V8 conversion but you might get the answers you're looking for.

This is something invented by our cousins over the water.

Mainly due to their complete inability to understand any engine other than a ford or chevy v8 with a big holley carb strapped to the top of it.

Consequently they take cars that are previously delicately honed driving tools, and slap a big lump of iron in the hole the finely machined engine left and end up totally destroying everyhing that made the car special in the first place.

If you want a Porsche coupe V8 get a 928, If you want a yank muscle car get a yank muscle car, and if you want a nice handling gt for pennies get a 944.

And by the way the pics of the v8's strapped in to 911's are enough to make any engineers blood run cold. Especially the radiator set ups.

Although I have just read up about the 914 conversion using a scooby flat 4 and I must say it looks excellent, I don't think I would want their engineering skills but the idea is outstanding!

A rover v8, what did they put out, about 150 BHP?, hardly what I'd call a worthwhile conversion.
I'd have thought the only V8 to even think about putting in the 944 would be a 928 one, unfortunately I'm reliably informed it's too wide to fit between the struts.
Now THAT would be a car and a half, no need for turbos, all porsche bits and using the best of both cars, surely the ultimate 944?

I did hear that it had been done somewhere...........

LS1 I can understand, but Rover V8s take an awful lot of work to get 200bhp+ out of. What's the point when a 944 Turbo can have 300bhp with minimum effort?

yes you are correct a LS1 is a better option... I was more interested how he got the rover v8 to work with the torque tube....

I will be goung the LS1 route... just sourced a 99" motor for a good price..

The LS1 is an all aluminium V8

Might be worth you having a chat with Roger @ Monkfish, they sponsor the HSV / Monaro section, I understand that they are working on a 944/968 V8 conversion

Yeah yeah it's still a horrible modification.

Putting an LS1 into a Tamora/Tuscan etc would be more worthwhile. But then anyone that suggests this on the TVR forums seems to get lynched.

I can see the appeal in a tvr, given they are more or less a kit car to start with (prepares to be lynched)
