Hi all,

Have had 3 chim's in the last 6 years and having recently sold my last 450( the one in evo)am now looking for a new toy. Loved the shape of the tusacan but am concerned by running costs.

Have noticed prices of Tams as low as £16k to £17k?

How willthe running costs and reliability compare to my prevoius faultless cars?

All my TVRs have been reliable.

My Tamora is totally sound, well constructed and reliable.

Very different from a Chim in many ways.

Just make sure you have a warranty or knock £1000 off the price and buy one yourself.

In short - I wouldn't go back to a Chim now I've got a Tam.

I work in the trade for a Audi dealership so was hoping to pick something up with my trade connections at trade price.

My concern was running costs, as I would find it difficult to justify a £4/5k rebuild cost to the mrs.

I think the engine troubles were more of a problem on earlier S6 cars, such as early Tuscans.

I've used my Tamora loads, almost everyday and sometimes doing 200 mile+ in a day and I've never had any problems with it. Although, I own another Tam with a knackered engine. The one with the knackered engine was bought like it and I know that the previous owner used to rag the car from cold, so not really a true reflection of the engine, rather a reflection of the previous owner.

The one with the knackered engine is awaiting a Chevy V8 unit anyway thumbup

Had a Chimaera - and two Tamoras! I woul never go back to any older TVR after driving the newer ones. Handling, ride, clutch and brakes, power delivery, practicality - everything is better with a Tamora. Truly great cars, and having done 50,000 miles in them without a mechanical failure, I would have no concerns about buying another.

Go for it!

Swapped my Griff in October for a Tamora with some doubts, but now much prefer it. Also had 2 Chimaeras, but the Tamora in another league. Try and get from 04 onwards and a TVR Power warranty for £1300 just in case. You won't regret it.

Let me think for a nano second.... yes, yes yes and yes (in a Harry met Sally styley (is that the right film?))

Had Chim for 8 years. Loved it, but had a Tam for just over a year, got it from new, 6k miles later, just one issue, throttle cable snapped. Very different car, handling much better, engine very smooth although miss the sound of the V8, seems well built but still had a couple of niggly trim problems. But hey its a TVR.

Go for it, to own one of the circa 400 made, collectors item.....

not owned a chimera but I love my tamora. I think they are the best kept secret of tvr.

Awesome cars and I've not heard anyone going back from a Tam to a Chim.

But just make sure you get the warranty WITH the wear and tear option (and hope that it'll be honoured).

I didn't and my S6 blew up leaving me with no option but to sell it knackered. I treated it better than my girlfriend but it didn't help. That was a late 02 model and to be fair, I haven't heard of many of the later one's going.
