Can anyone help!

I have a cooper s which I love to bits but I also do a lot of surfing/windsurfing. My mate had a great van and use to transport my stuff but he's let me down and has moved. I now need to get a roof rack but when speaking to the guy at the dealership he said the BMW approved one needs to be drilled into the roof!!!! As you can imagine I’m not keen on this idea.

Has anybody done this and can re-assure me that this is ok??

A Thule one has been suggested but they only have one clip either side of the car and have a very restricted weight limit.

Can anybody help or have any idea's? (apart from give up Surfing!)

You could also try minimania , they do the YAKIMA system - no holes required and supports up to 75lbs.

The trick with these is to make sure the paintwork between the rack pads and the roof is spotless to avoid scratching.

clicky

You could also search the forums at Mini2.com - I've seen discussions there on the subject read
