just had to replace the rear tyres on my 996 C2.

I have Pirelli Rosso 265/35 ZR 18 N4.

(£359 from event mobile tyres if anyone wants to know !)

What I ned to know is what tyre pressures do people out there run at ? The reason I ask is my rears were very worn (centre two tread s well below legal) while the outsides of the tyres still had almost 3mm. Suggesting overinflation. The tyre fitter suggested I use 36 Psi as a starting figure.

I keep inflated to the handbook ie 36 psi front and 44 psi rear

I have only owned car 6 months so perhaps it was previous owner, but the fronts are wearing evenly across the tyre face.

Appreciate any advice/opinions....thanks

I recommend sticking with the figures the manual says. Works well with mine.
Funny though as my rears wear evenly but my fronts inner edge wears out fast. It does have the sports chassis though and loads of camber!!

Any chance you've got the pressures for cold tyres instead of running temp ??

Wide tyres also have a tendancy to wear in the middle especially if the car is driven hard, the centre oof the tyre is continually being slung outwards under hard acceleration and high speeds,a natural course of action .

OK, thanks.....I often drive it hard and fast !!!! but that's what it's for !

I do check the pressures cold.

So middle wear is just the price paid for having fun...guess I can live with that.

How did you find the service from EMT?

EMT were good. I made an online order at around 10PM and they called next day at 8 AM to confirm the appointment time with me, which was as I requested.

The technician called me when he was on his way and was on time. He appeared knowledgable, had done 911 wheels before, knew where to jack it up, and it was all completed with minimum fuss and no visible damage to the wheels.

And pricewise they were just £2 more then the cheapest quote I could get, with the convenience of them coming to me rather than me going out (again) on my slightly less than legal tyre !
