MOT this morning
Discussion
why is it that your griff senses its mot day and starts sulking, its as if your taking it to the dentist and doesn`t want to go
got it out this morning to find the rear off side indicator wasn`t working, turned out to be a loose connecter in the tail light assembly, so fingers crossed will be a happy bunny at lunchtime.

I know what you mean. All the work I've just done and when I came to start it last night it turned over about 4 times then nothing. All the lights were on, fuel pump priming etc but it wouldn't turn over
I gave up and came in sulking.
All it turned out to be was a blown fuse - but I had to climb over from the drivers side and stand on my head to change it
Good luck with the MOT today, hope it all goes well

relief, she passed okay, the tester tried to give the usual "there`s no light on the rear number plate", but soon put him straight on that one!
I was rather ammused that the 17yr old apprentice had to sit in the passenger seat whilst it was taken in and out of the garage for the test, and it was reved at every opportunity

MOT yesterday ....
After spending all day Friday doing the following jobs ...
Rebuild all front suspension (new bushes)
Install steering rack after recon
Replace carbon canister and purge valve
Changed thermostat
installed radiator
Sorted airbox and re-installed
Took out Y piece to get in steering rack to find main cat is breaking up
Off to MOT for 4pm .... Battery is on last legs with vapours of petrol left in the tank ...
Explain to the friendly MOT station that the car has just been put back on the road and try and do the test without turning it off, as it may not start, it eventually dies ...
Bless him for his patience .... we put a power pack on it, it drains that, in the end it went through the test on an auxillary charger unit to get it through .. Nearly ran out of petrol as well ...
As for the emissions .... Well it did pass, but it needed to run constantly at 2500rpm for about 10 minutes until it finally dropped below the requirement ...
other than that it flew through ...
My car definitely has days when it decides it will fight you all the way .... lower wishbones a real pain to put back in with new bushes, otter switch decides it rating doesn't matter any longer and comes on 20 degrees lower, battery dies, then get a new oil leak from the oil pressure switch (useful to be on ramp at the MOT station to be able to see source)
So in all I agree, if they know it's MOT time, they bloody fight !!
