Hi there everyone,

Some friends of mine want to start a regular classic, sports and kit car meeting in Northamptonshire.

The plan is to have a meeting on the 1st Sunday of each month starting on the first Sunday in March.

The meeting will be in the South Northamptonshire village of Upper Boddington, the venue will be The Village Garage on Warwick Road, Upper Boddington where there is ample parking, the venue is also next door to the traditional village pub The Plough.

The guys who own the garage will also open up the work shop for a look round and there promises to be a classic rally car in build to view.

I am not one of the organisers but will answer any questions I can.

There are a lot of interesting cars in the immediate area so this promises to be an interesting meeting. I myself will aim to take my Bora along.

Regards, Robin

Maybe we could combine the two or something, Matt? The Bora is one of my all-time faves...

you can combine it if you want Mark, you're the monthly meet organiser or maybe it could be the 2nd sunday?
alternating between the 2 might be a good idea, one month in sywell, next month over there

You`re reading my mind.

shout Robin! YHM.

Don`t forget, there`s two reasons we chose the first Sunday of the month.

1. It doesn`t clash with other events.
2. It`s easy to remember.
3. Dunno....

There`s 3 reasons....

the 3rd reason, although its not to do with the date, is its location, sywell is centralish for everyone

Hi Mark and everyone,

Mark YHM back...

I am sure we can sort something out. UB may not be central but as I said to Mark in my email it is a very car friendly village so the meeting will get a friendly reception.

I'll talk to the organisers and let them know there is a clash.

Kind regards, Robin

No worries mate. Your village sounds a bit like Ashby Folville in Leicestershire. Don`t know if you`ve heard of it, but in the summer it attracts several hundred cars and bikes...... On a tuesday evening!

The bottom line is, there`s room for several events around the county. The only thing that`s set in stone is the "Northants Run" on March 4th. (see events forum)

Maybe we could combine the two by starting one earlier say 11am, then having a bit of a run down to the other one (which could start say 1pm) as a group, that way we get to have tyre-kicking, coffee/beer, drive, more tyre-kicking, more coffee/beer.

Or expressed using the medium of electronic visual aids:

driving blabla beer driving blabla beer driving

Some great roads out that way, approach from the old B4525 (anyone old enough to remember that road before it was declassifed and rerouted?)

Roads would be even more fun for a small car following a large car, well actually probably a large car holding up a small car

This is all very well but what real ale is available at the Plough for my navigator?

Hi there,

Yes there are some good roads down our end of Northants.

The Plough serves Pedigree straight out of the barrel for your navigator, the Guiness is reckoned to be pretty good by those that drink it too.

It is quite an eccentric pub, no proper till etc.,.. (there is a fruit machine sadly, but the noise is turned off thankfully).

Regards,

Robin

What's the plan Mark, if they decide to have this on the 1st Sunday of the month? I take it we will keep our meet on the same day

Sounds fantastic

Any village that has a pub like this is a proper village, deserves a visit

I agree we can, but considering it took 10 pages of discussions to finally decide on a date for the sunday meet, and now we're all used to it, it would be a shame to change it

yes True, but don`t forget the Sywell meet is "our" monthly event and we can change it if need be. Obviously not next month though.
Ashby Folville isn`t our meet and as far as I know has always been 2nd tuesday of the given month. Not sure of the details of Northants TVRCC, as it changes depending on the season. Any others?
