V8 Distributor
Discussion
Not the precise answer you want but maybe useful info... I was looking at a V8 distributor on fleaBay today, (I think the seller was RPI engineering) and it mentioned the difference between the two types of disty. IIRC they said in the ad that there was a cable (£20 ish) to adapt between the two types. Worth a call to RPI I reckon.. (I did check fleabay but looks like the item I saw has ended)
Good luck!

My V8S uses the 35DLM8 type, it's common on TVRs. As faras I understand it, the ballast resister and coil go together - if you have a ballasted coil it must be used with a ballast resister, if you don't it mustn't. One way to tell whether you have a ballast resister is to see what voltage you get across the coil when you turn it on for a moment and pull the -ve side down. Obviously this will generate a spark so watch yourself and your avo.
Assuming the coil/ballast resister/whatever setup you have is unchanged, then wiring in the ignition module is very easy. There should be two terminals on the module, and these connect to the two sides of the coil. Add an appropriate ballasted/unballasted ignition feed to the +ve side of the coil and you're sorted.
You should also find one wire from the coil -ve driving the tacho, and if you have EFI another one to trigger the ECU. On mine, one comes from the coil and the other from the ignition module, but electrically these are equivalent.
