Anyone know exactly what's involved in replacing the front wing of a Ka? Is it a simple job, or horribly complex? I have the option of rebuilding extensive denting including panel edge distortion, or putting a new panel in.

Comments, instructions and/or pointing me to a site that covers it (couldn't find one with a fair bit of googling) much appreciated!

Go to a breakers and learn on one there.
You may get lucky and come away with one the right colour.
Even breakers that have all the panels already removed can be a help as you can at least see where all the hidden fixing points are.

Bear with me. They're easy to do but i've done a fair few front wings and cant remember the exact procedure.
It's definately easy though. If you're versed in removing the bumper which takes no time at all on fords whip it off, if you're not no worries.
firstly remove the wheel arch liner. pop the bonnet and whip the light(s) out. if the wing is bolted down inside the engine bay which i'm 99% sure they are, undo the bolts obviously. You'll find there's seam sealant between the panel and the engine bay, which is a little tricky to break the bond. Hot air gun and a very sharp, very thin scalpel / craft knife type affair soon gets through with a little wiggling of the wing itself. If memory serves there's a couple of bolts / screws at the front of the wing attaching it to the bumper or visa versa.
There's no doubt a couple of bolts i've missed in the description, but these will become apparant as you get the panel free. I can't remember the arrangement at the bottom of the wing but i'll get back to you on.

one piece of invaluable advice i was giving, get some tiling spacers, or a felt pen etc and make some marks along the top, front and back of the wing, which gives you something to line it up against when you come to replace it, and stops you having to faff on for ages getting the panel gap right.
I've got a computer based manual somewhere which has loads of details on panels for most cars on, i'll double check i've not missed anything important out tomorrow but off the cuff it sounds about right, though my disclaimer tonight is i've had a few drinks lol.

hope this helps.
