I recieved a form from Nottingham Police in Feb. asking me to identify the driver of my catr tht had been caught on camera.

I replied with a letter and the form asking for a photo and asking for a response to several other polite questions.

I did not get a reply until saturday, when I rrecieved a letter telling me that I am being prosecuted for Failing to Furnish!

If they send me the photo's etc. I might be able to tell them!

What's the implication of this letter! Am I done for or what?

It seems a bit harsh, especially as they did not have the courtesy t reply to my letter.

sounds like they are arrogant f**kwits who need a damn good kicking about the b*ll*cks in order to make them see sense !

Think you could write to CPS and convince them that this is unfair, and get the whole damn thing dropped. Let's hope so!

I would have thought the would throw the case out if you'd tried to cooperate but they'd denied you the chance...

similar case with colleague in N Wales. Colleague wrote several letters which he produced requesting photo as it could have been one of 3 or 4 drivers. Police ignored the lot. CPS numpty even produced one of the letters. Bench threw case out on basis of no evidence by prosecution.

Andygo,

I'm in Nottingham also. I got my letter this morning from Sherwood lodge. If you read it carefully it says something about a file being prepared for prosecution (being sent to CPS) and warns that you may be charged with the offence of failing to furnish and a Summons MAY be expected. CPS may decide not to issue a summons. It's nothing to do with Mr Plant at the ticket office at the end of the day.

I think it's b*ll*cks myself. The guy's pi**ed off. I was going to write back to him asking him why he hasn't told me where in law it says I have to sign the form but now I'm going to sit back and not give them any evidence.

I sent back my NIP unsigned, I filled in the driver details and date of birth but didn't have the licence information. They sent the NIP back so I've kept it.

Legal Eagles please, should I return it with the D/L number now that I've found my licence? I'm tempted to do that small thing for them along with a brief letter. Then I can fully say that I have complied.

Just what I was going to say! Seems the Notts Police are up to a bit of fundraising at the moment

Also, I have yet to receive a summons, but knowing how hopelessly inefficient anything in the public sector is, I wouldn't take that to mean anything. I've started looking for a solicitor who specialises in defending motorists just in case, and there's guy at Nelsons in Nottingham called Simon Chaplin who I should be speaking to next week. I'll post when I've talked to him.
