America, China or Taiwan for equipment?

Does anyone know the best place to buy photographic equipment (camera and lenses)? My Company has (non-photographic) suppliers in the USA, Taiwan and China, I could get any of them to buy me some stuff and include it in our next container. Is there any difference in specification between products available in different geographical markets? Do you think there would be any significant savings to be made? I am, of course, aware of VAT and duty implications... Thanks in advance for any answers.

Been to Taiwan a lot and it is not great to buy equipment, US, Japan, Hong Kong or Singapore much better.

I've just come back from Hong Kong where i purchased a few items. It wasn't as cheap as i remembered from my previous visits many years ago. However good saving were made on lenses, although for the really cheap prices you end up with imitation lenses or lenses that have been imported from Japan via less than legal means and minus a warrenty!!
