advice on taking T350 to Europe
Discussion
I'm planning a euro trip for the summer which will be around 3 weeks in total and will be driving the T350 through France/Spain/Portugal. Slightly concerned should the worst happen and I break down somewhere what happens if the car needs to be flat bedded back to UK for example if it's something serious. Or if not that serious I'm worried about euro mechanics attempting to fix things in an unfamiliar engine. Has anyone ever had the unfortunate happen in Europe? I'm kind of hoping more that I can get some kind of cover that would transport the car back for me so i could hire a replacement and carry on my holiday!
Make sure you get European cover from AA/RAC that covers a replacement car/Accommodation, I had RAC European when my Astra's gearbox went in France, absolutely fantastic service (flatbed to garage, taxi to hotel, flatbed to ferry, Flatbed to home).
By the time a foreign garage has sourced the parts your holiday will be over so anything major just get it shipped back to the UK.

Not happened to me yet, but take out the AA 5 star or German ADAC type breakdown cover. About as good a service as you are going to get.
Take a few spare fuses with you, esp. the 100A Alternator to battery fuse. You'll either get stuck with something simple (puncture in France on a Sunday or a fuse gone for example) or something major (clutch failure).
You will certainly enjoy the trip!

Definately take basic spares and some 'GetYouHome' cover.
The most common mistake TVR owners make when touring Europe with the other half is to omit the only truely important bit of kit for when the car breaks down: Weekend Spar Vouchers. These are essential as we are programmed to be perfectly happy sitting by the side of the road waiting for help or pushing the car long distance, however, other halves will often require incentives so as not to spoil the occasion.
The trusty Gift Voucher delivered with the appropriate timing will remove all risk of a spoilt holiday. It is up to you to calculate the value required. I suggest a set of different values to cover different problems.
