Relies rather too too much on the same cheap trick to scare you, and after about 3 levels it fails to do so anymore. Once you've had one hobo appear out of nowhere and hit you in the face it stops scaring you.
There are definitely better scare games out there, but worth a play through.

Okay, just completed this, thought i'd share my thoughts...
Firstly, it tries for atmosphere, but because you spend the entire game going through dark mazes with a flashlight you get used to it very quickly.
As Steve says, the gameplay is pretty much the same, with hobos running up, and annoyingly spawning from impossible locations somehow.
That said, its quite compelling to work through and finish, even if the storyline takes a bizarre twist, and while the fight interface is basic, it can be a challenge when surrounded by hobos.
And lets not forget, this game cost 15 quid, so yes, it isnt up to GoW standard, but then playing this so much, I forget how good a game it really is. For the price paid, Condemed was worth it, and while it didnt take long to complete, it did keep me coming back for more.

I would love to play this, and FEAR, and Prey, and Doom 3, but I just can't.
I get so immersed in these games (doesn't help that I play it on a PC monitor, and hence my eyes are only a foot away from the screen) that when the frights come I literally have a near heart attack every single time. It hit the point in FEAR where I just couldn't hack it - I'm too scared!
Ditto Far Cry - when it got past shooting the humans to shooting the monsters, I had to stop playing, because everytime one jumped out at me from nowhere I would literally jump out of my chair and shout, and my heart would race at a few thousand bpm.
Not good for me I think. I'd love to play FEAR and Condemned, but I just can't get over the spooks.
The first beserker in GoW is about as much as I can take I think. When I got over that one I was really relieved that I no longer needed to run down the hall and wonder if the big moolah was gonna squash me while I had my back turned against him.
I'm such a pussy.

Its a really scary, jumpy game mate. I've only played it for about 30mins, but I want to pick it up again.
So thanks for the reminder
Its good man, very mature, and atmospheric.
