Plenum Preheater ???

Does a Wedge really need a plenum preheater ? (I think thats what it is ) or is it just a waste of pipework ?? Can I take it off and stick it on ebay ???

Unless your heading for artic conditions where the intake / linkage could freeze its not necessary.
Removed mine 12 month ago when I re-plumbed and after talking to ACT.

cooler inlet charge but the negative side being rougher running
when cold becaue of more fuel dropout ?

I never drive it cold Rev or in the very cold weather (frost = salt = rust = ) so thats no problem and by the time the preheater is warm enough to make any difference the plenum wont need heating. Cooler inlet charge, maybe a little but I dont think I will notice, do you ?? Its just another few pipes and joins to worry about and I really cant see the use. Just trying to tidy up a bit under the bonnet while I wait for the rest of the bits to arrive by post

That little unit can rob upto 5 horse power from the motor, if you are going to remove it you will have to black off three of the four bolt holes as two go strait into the plenum, one gose into a side feed and the fouth, well i wasnt taking any chances with it, all you have to do is crop down the lenght of the bolts and use a bit of sealant to put them back in with.
And you should be able to remove the rocker cover with out taking the plenum off... coool of what

I'd suggest disconecting the pipes (just blank them off, or connect them directly to each other) but leave the chamber attached to the bottom of the throttle housing. There's no benefit from taking it off, and the potential air leak just gives you one more thing to go wrong.

Thanks Pete, but part of the reason to do away with it is that I need just a little more space so it will have to go

Getting rid of it does allow you to take the left-hand rocker cover off without taking the plenum off first...
