My free web site on plus.com has been removed for exceeding the bandwidth allowance and I can't see how it is possible. I don't even run a website on there, I just use it to occasionally host a photo for a pistonheads post, or my signature pic on another forum.

Here's my usage stats:

Which reckons that on one day it did 371,122 KB - that's 374MB in one day!!
It was all on Tuesday last week - the 6th February. I can't see how!

Here's the break down of top URLs accessed

mostly old .html pages that only about 5 of my friends have the URL for and haven't been updated for ages.
This list doesn't suggest many KBs are being used; however no .JPG files are listed. Perhaps that's whats taking up all the bandwidth? What is the limit by the way, does anyone know?

Could it be because of this thread I started on 6th February www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=353313&p=1 where I posted a couple of JPGs which were ~600KB (couldn't be bothered to resize them)? It only got 10 replies and I would never have imagined it would generate nearly 0.4GB in an hour!!
25% of the referrers were pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp.

OK I found the usage stats:

Residential Daily Allowance
Pay As You Go (dial-up) 100MB
Lite (dial-up) 250MB
Anytime Dial-up 250MB
ADSL Home Surf 250MB
Broadband Basic PAYG 0 - (100MB with add-on)
Broadband PAYG 250MB
Broadband Premier 250MB
Broadband Plus 100MB
Teleworker 250MB

I think we're on Broadband Premier so 250MB/day allowance. I guess that one not very popular thread posting has generated a vast amount of usage! I never realised it could ramp up so quickly.

Considering the speed the thread moved at, I posted an 18kB gif of Hitler player the banjo in the Hammond thread. 1.34GB of traffic later... a few 600kb JPG images and... you were lucky to not break the GB

Posting a picture on PH is the one sure, fire way of stress testing your hosting service
