Thanks to Richard's (ringram) demo of EFILIVE at the Ace Cafe I'm trying to get my head around the whole subject of engine management. I think I've cracked MAF/MAP and the role of the O2 Sensor. But I'm looking to learn more about the internals of the ECU O/S such as under what conditions does it switch from Closed to Open loop and how they compensate for engine wear.

Any body got any good links on ECU's in general or the PCM used in the Roo specifically.

Thanks in Advance

Have you checked out the tutorials on EFI's website?

I'd like to say I understood them, but that would be stretching things a little.

There is a bit here on the tuning basics links (top right)

http://gmtuning.info/wiki/index.php/M

A "how did you get started" thread on ls1tech www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=643769

Really one of the best ways is to do some logging and watch what the engine does as it works.

There are a few good books around too which explain the fundamentals which is always good for the theory side.

This one is by the guy who runs efi university and an efilive class.

Im happy to answer as much as I can via the forum etc as well.

I'm a megasquirt guy, one thing i liked is the Stimulator - which you plug into your Megasquirt unit and it emulates all signals that the car would produce. So when i was learning, i could sit at my desk and play around with things and see the effect directly - 6000rpm and 15 psi boost? - easy just twiddle the pots to suit. Also when adding new features, i can check that they work as desired/described.

Would be cool if you could have a stimulator for the GM ecu!
