Who knows about R6s?

I've been looking at '05 R6s (red ones) and there seems to be two different colour schemes one with red tail and one with black tail are these just options or do they represent model years?

Also anything I should look out for?

What would you recommend in the way of race cans? I've benn looking at Akrapovic, yoshimura and the old blue flames.

As far as I know proper 05 models have gold upside down forks whereas 04 models advertised as 05 have black normal way up forks. I was looking at these for a while but am moving to a honda cbr600 once I've sold my 99R6.
