Hi guys, I have for the past couple of months been thinking of building a kit car. I have considered the Westfields and Caterhams until i come across the K1 Attack. However before diving in and making a decision of buying a kit (if they are still selling them as kits that is) I want to have look at a K1 complete and built.

I have already seen a very nice Caterham as well as a Westfield and not to mention a Cobra replica but would love to see a K1.

Btw I am in West Yorkshire so any closest place just to have a look at one.

Cheers guys

The USA? I guess Slovakia may be closer, but the saving in flight time against messing around in a country where I don't know the language would mean I could get to the US quicker

Seriously though... The K2 Carrage(sp?) Company have (I believe) just finished their demo Attack to look at.

I've not heard of any others that are complete in the UK, but I know of a lot of people that want to make one. Emma B on here is taking delivery of one in kit form direct from K1 as they no longer seem to use their UK distributor.

Maybe there'll be some cars to look at at kit car shows this year???

EDIT - D'Oh!!!! Have a look at the "Attack!!!!" Thread by Black5 below. Me thinks this is in the deepest darkest South West corner of England though...??? And as it looks like it's over from Belgium to be SVA'd and shipped back again, I'm not sure you'd get a go.

Only place I am aware of is K2 Carriage Co in Southampton.

I believe there are less than half a dozen cars in the UK.

My photo's are of a privately owned car. As mentioned the owner lives in Belgium.

Interesting . . . they are looking to attend a few major kit shows this year (including Stoneleigh)

bloomin typical that is, I've been wanting to have a look around one of these for ages, and there's one in the same town as me! I'll have to give them a shout I think, see if they still have it.

Ah yeh Black. Im going to pay them a visit. Isnt it a little expensive at 35k a pop for one of these?

I thought it was much less than that if you built yourself

I think the kit is about 14,500 GBP (depending on currancy fluctuations) for the base kit plus the donar bits - they have very expensive tastes - Lambo lights, Audi suspension... runs up a big bill! Though Emma B could tell you more...?

Hi Dave, ive tried contacting Emma no reply.

Right tell me something. The suspension etc, isnt that a part of the kit.

The reason im wanting to have al ook at an attack before getting the kit is due to quality. I like the Caterhams and Westfields but the K1 seems very cheaply made for god knows what reason. so need to see one in flesh to know what its really like

The kit price is often only a small proportion of the full cost of the finished car.

I am aware that people have spend near £50k building an Attack. This ain't exactly as the manufacturer specc'ed it, but by using more exotic parts etc.

IIRC the estimated build cost is around £20-25k.

K1 have completely altered their site, so there's no info on the kit anymore as I think they just want to be a volume car manufacturer. These guys were meant to be the UK distributor, but no idea what's going on with them at the moment: www.dynamic-performance.co.uk/ They still have prices on their site though to give you a feel and a list of the parts in the kit.

If you google around you can find out a fair bit about what's in the kit, but it seems there are mostly US builders (hence my original response).

I think K2 would be the best place, but their cars are very expensive, so I'm hoping they have used top-of-the-line parts and build quality.

How can you say this if you havent seen one? The write up in a mag from a while ago seems to say the kit is good value? ceratainly the kit contents dont seem outrageous for the cost?

No doubt the build price could escalate.. but obviously that depends on what you want to give to the car - run-about or style icon, and how good youre skills are at making parts rather than getting somebody else to make them?

I do agree they seem expensive for a built car tho'

I did send you a pm yesterday with all of the details that you wanted.

Cheaply made? I thought you hadn't seen one yet!
