Would really appreciate some help getting to the bottom of a problem I've with MS Office, Word, Excel, Power Point the whole lot.
If I uninstall and reinstall Office it works for a while then I get the message 'The xxxxx file is not available'. If I ok that and I try to close the progamme I get the message 'The normal file already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?" The only way I can continue to close the programme is to click 'Yes'.
Tne only way I can get any of the Office programmes to work again is to unistall and reinstall and and it'll work a couple of times.
Any ideas?
Cheers, Neil

uninstall and then search for normal.doc and delete all occurances and then run an install, if you still get same problem then try a detect and repair instead..

This occurs when you've made a change to a default in Word (like the page size or language). It saves it's default setting in a file called 'Normal.dot' and if it already exists it will ask you if you want to replace it.

Does Word work normally except for this issue?

You don't need to uninstall Office - just close Word and search for and delete the one occurence of the normal.dot template file NOT normal.doc. When you next open Word it will re-create the normal.dot file and your problems will be over.
