Hi Everyone,

Just ordered my MCS, but not sure whether I should take sports suspension(SS) or not.
I know the ride will be harder with SS, but are there any other cons, and what are the pros? will the car sit lower with SS? has anyone driven both to compare them?, and is there a big difference in the hardness of the ride? questions questions!!!

Cheers, beer Mark

I've driven both and my new cooper S has it. The car will not sit any lower, as far as know the SS gives stiffer anti-roll bars etc but does not drop the ride height.

Is it any better... There is no doubt that it does make the car firmer and when you are pushing on you do notice the suspension and the car corners much flatter. However, in general day-to-day driving the ride is much firmer, couple that with the 17s and run flats and it can get pretty hard. My guess, looking back is that the best set up for everyday driving may be sports suspension with 16 inch wheels, but the car might look a bit odd like that cos of the big wheel arches. Drive cars with and without it and get a good long run to see if it is for you.

I really like the suspension but if you carry passengers regularly and / or spend a lot of time on the motorway then I would consider the normal suspension. I'm lucky, for me the car is just for fun, use a bike day-to-day.

Ive got it on my S and I must admit i do quite a bit of motorway milage and it rides brilliant. Not too hard at all, but when you are chucking it in the corners it handles really well. Depending on where you live of course your more than welcome to have a go in mine to make your mind up.
