Right my steering is still anoying me....

to recap its "sticky" you turn the wheel, even at a standstill and its smooth then goes hard then smooth etc

Fuild has been changed, UJ's checked by Offord and its have new lower ball joints and track rod ends....

Offord didn't seem to think there was much wrong with it, however its really buggin me

is there any possibility its the pump? if not should i just suck it up and get the rack reconditioned? any recommendations were to go?

anyone got a spare rack?

how hard it is to remove? i'm pretty handy with the spanners....

That really sounds like UJ's. Perhaps they need another dose of looking at. The failure isn't always obvious and sometimes needs to be under load to show itself. These UJ's are the most common failing of the system and your description indicates it.

Seconded. Mine was just like that when I bought it. I soaked and cleaned the UJs - they looked and felt OK, but I was advised to change them anyway. Big thing to watch out for is when fitting the new ones, leave them slightly loose, then move the steering back and forth to settle them into position then tighten them up. I didn't do this at first, just replaced them with the new ones in the old positions and fully tightened them. Drove it round the block, no different furious. After loosening and settling the steering was bang on!
