gearlever - how big's yours?

My gear lever seems awfully tall - are they all the same size or can you get shorter ones?

And is there an easy way to remove the gaiter?

i removed my gear knud and then cut thetreaded part of the gear stick and te put a new metal knob on.

The one on my 400 was a tall wooden one, I redrilled the hole alot deeper and the result was a gear stick about 2" shorter, much better. As Blaine says if your knob is fastened with grub screws around the base, just get the saw out and lob a lump off the stick

Here's mine



It was sitting a good inch and a half to two inches higher when I got the car. I seem to remember that I just had to unscrew the knob and screw a threaded insert further into the knob to get it to sit further down the shaft.

cool.. will ask girlfriend later to help screw the shaft further so that knob in better place like yours. ta.
