I'm doing a piece on the new XKR for an American magazine and I need some info. Do any of you know (for sure) what the XKR's top speed would be without the blasted limiter? I've been told '170 plus' by Jaguar but that's a little vague. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I don't know the answer to the questions, I guess it depends on 4.0/4.2 etc...

You could try posting in the non-member section of the XKEC forum...

Thanks - it would appear that 175mph is the magical number

I have had mine de-limited.

I have had my XKR at an indicated 185mph, there may have been a bit to come but had to slow for traffic I was catching up.
Maybe good for 192mph (max power in 5th)

Before anyone asks, I drive on the continant a lot.

Kevin, I went on a Jag test day in the XKR and the Jag peeps there said their de-limited car was able to do the 175mph, but that was a limitation of the track rather than anythingelse.

Thanks guys - if I had one I'd get the limiter removed. Every time I drive one I feel the car is cheated and when I was on the launch in Spain last year I had it sat on the limiter for miles on some brand new (and deserted) motorway. I knew it had much more in it - what a car.

185 is what I was told, faster than a V8 Vantage and about the same as a DB9
