These are rare. 45 convertibles and only 16 Fixed heads made.
A lot have been messed with so there are not many left in original spec.
There are around 120 Wedges and usually 3 200's at the Wedgefest (and one of those has a cossie engine).
Hard to say what they are worth, I've never seen one for sale. Depends on condition mainly but mine is insured for £4k which is probably on the high side although a good 280 just sold for nearly this amount. I guess it depends on how much rarity is worth to you but I would start at £2K if it is in good nick.
As to whether they are any good it depends on what you want. I love mine even over my 400SE but then I am wierd!
To me it is a pure sportscar with no frills.
Mine is a daily drive which with a Ford Pinto engine any competent garage can service & is simple & relatively cheap to maintain with parts generally no problem.

thanks guys, i will go and have a look at it over the next couple of days, i could only buy it if it was cheap enough, my wife knows nothing of this
i would proberbly use it as an everyday car and would be left on the drive so i would not want to spend thousands, i will keep you posted.

to be honest: who wants to drive a wedge with a (standard) slow 2 litre, 4 cyl. engine?
i wouldnt...exactly the sound of the V6 or even better the V8 engine is it what makes the tasmin to a tasmin!!
if you´ll find the collector who is willing to buy it cause he wants it, than you can get 3000 or even 4000, but in reality calculate between 1000 and 1500...if the car is really, really good.
is it a silver one which was advertized at pistonheads a few time ago?

I do. i wouldnt...exactly the sound of the V6 or even better the V8 engine is it what makes the tasmin to a tasmin!!
Have you ever driven one or are you just jumping on the 'oh it's 2 litre so must be crap' bandwagon?
I get more fun out of the 200 than the 400 any day.
Maybe if you are at the BBWF I'll take you for a spin but if I haven't enough room to carry seat covers to protect my upholstry then I better not!
The 200 FHC is indeed a rare car
Most of the bodies were used in racing from what I have been told, so there are only a couple left...literally!
The guy who tried to sell me a 200FHC told me his was the only road registered Tasmin 200FHC in Britain, and it definitely wasnt white so Im assuming his information might have been off
Ive seen a few dropheads knocking about, including a white Cosworth engined Tas 200 which is putting out a rather healthy amount of power
Ive actually got photos of the enginebay/install from yesterdays meeting
As for what they're worth, Im affraid it isnt a lot
as has been said, probably 2k for a minter

definitely sure is that a 2litre could be, compared to a 3,5litre, fast enough, too.
not to forget: the 3,5 litre must accelerate its own weight!!!

But the weight of an aluminium V8 (at least rover), isn't far off a 4 cilinder iron block....
So I am very happy with my weight (thank you), and even more with the sound and especially the torque of the RV8 engine.

Personally, I would prefer the RV8 over the old pinto lump, but I have heard it said many many times now that the 200 Tasmins handle better than the RV8
I reckon this is true - except in the braking department. With the 200 ( and I assume the 2.8) you have much more feel. I was using the 400Se for quite a while as a daily drive whilst I was working on the 200. Whem I started using the 200 again I realise I was not driving it as I used to.
After a while I got back into slinging it around corners and accelerating as I used to.
On the assumption that a haddn't just had a wimpish phase it must have been the way the 400 drove that influenced me to be more cautious.
Both Wedges are wonderful machines which is why when I should have sold one I couldn't decide which so had to keep both. There seems to be an obsession with power output.
I went on a run where I had a Cerb behind me. He later said "it shifts that old thing (the 200)". Oh yes he came at me on the straights but disappeared from view on the corners & admitted he could not keep up. So unless you only travel on Roman roads the power is not so vital.
I also had a couple with a Taimar come to one of my runs & apologise for it being a slow car. FFS what a machine it was & all varients of all models are part of the TVR history.
I won't be bringing the 400 to BBWF this year. I don't want to be one of 40+ in a row. I will be one of three I suspect.
the car is rare and 2k would be a fair price, Mine is insured for 3.5k with a letter of valuation from a TVR garage. I have an 81 engine in mine and on standard cam and webber 40's its putting out 122bhp at the wheels, I can do plenty more to take it over 250 if I wish but I am happy with it as it is. with the exception on the carbs and a 5 speed box mine is standard and original. who wants a boring 'oh look another V8' anyway!
Hormone, I thought that it was only 49 built and 19 were hardtop?
