Wire link to bypass alarm

Ever since I've had my 1994 5l Griff there has been a short piece of wire with a modified fork connector (one half cut away) on each end cable tied under the bonnet (not connected to anything, just kinda waiting to be used). I've left it there cos I figure I'll find out what it is for when I need it.

My guess is its to bypass the immobiliser if I have alarm problems but thats just a guess from a similar issue on a Pug I had.

Anyone know what this might be for ?
