In a moment of what can only be described as madness, I'm considering getting another 996GT2. I've been away from these for over a year, but prices seem to be all over the place. I'm looking at a couple (including one 2004 model advertised on here and a 2001 model which I'm quite familiar with.) Does anyone have any thoughts on where the best value is to be had...minimising future depreciation...and any suggestions on other GT2's worth looking at. Are the 2004 cars worth the extra money?

Just bought an 02 26k Basalt with carbon buckets, perfect spec IMO from Paragon, car was up at 65, did deal with p/x on my RS.

GT2 had been on wish list for while, but most I had seen were with the comfy armchairs!

Apparantly there are very few good ones around and prices are set to rise!! eek

I've also just acquired an 03/03 Car in Basalt with only 8.5k miles and many options for a similar figure to Kurgen_. My advice would be to look at as many as possible and buy the best you can based on condition, history and mileage.

FYI if I hadn't have bought the car I have then my next choice would have been Mark Nichols stunning 04 Black car recently advertised.

The Arctic Silver car advertised at Morgans in Ireland is unfortunately a c98 car so beware, The Aria Motor Co (Nottingham) also have an Arctic Silver car c/w Carbon Rear Wing, Mirrors, Bonnet Vent is also an attractive car I looked at and well worth considering.

Good luck in your search.

C.

A C16 is the same car that would be delivered by an OPC. It's worth the same because it's exactly the same in every way

Sorry my mistake, i've altered the original post to c98 (Cyprus/Maltese spec).

Thanks,

C.

Rob, didn't you previously have a GT2 or am I thinking of someone else?

I take it your RS had a prang?

1st GT2, had a couple of RS(a slow red one and the fast blue one and a Mk2 GT3.

We had some chuckles over the dyno graph for the red one on Rennlist.. do ya remember?

Ah yeah, that's the same dyno that had a great reading for Glenn's new car. I'm still skeptical of it's accuracy (sorry Mr dyno owner if you are reading this!).

So what's brought you back to the GT2 - were you missing the grunt?

I bought mine privately, more caution is needed and specialist inspections are a must obviously. Don't be put off private sales as there will be some minters amongst the accident damaged dross and you avoid the dealers premium.

Hope you find one soon and get that grunt fix you have been missing out on driving

GT2 has always been on my wish list, ever since I was a very young boy.. (ok this is a lie as I have posted elsewhere, due to fact that everyone had horse and carts.. when I was a nipper)

But has been a desire, and the perfect spec car (IMO) turned up, so did the dirty dead.
Car has the carbon buckets, and is basically clubsport spec with rear cage, I kept both sets of harnesses from the RS.

Car has just been mapped and is blisteringly quick, really is the first car I've owned that truly scares me. IMO justifies it's "widowmaker" tag
