Hi all,
Last weekend I (with lots of help from wildfire) fitted the ACT cherrybomb system along with a set of superflare carbon fibre trumpets and the full induction kit with K&N filter to my 97 Chim 450, after a week of grinning I thought i'd quickly share my thoughts on it!
Stainless cherry bomb exhaust: I am pretty sure that every single Chimaera needs one of these, I was expecting a louder car but I can't say i've noticed a lot of change in volume. The whole car just sounds more like it feels it should sound - much more throaty with a deeper gurgle and bassier sound throughout the whole rev range. Particular favorite noises come at 3 and 5-6k revs
The pops and bangs aren't really more frequent but they sound a lot more pronounced and angry which when induced with a touch of throttle brings huge grins every time...
Induction & Trumpets: I have noticed a significant increase in throttle response and the car generally seems much happier to jump up to 5/6k revs than before which is great combined with the new noise! As well as this there is a noticeable increase in power throughout the rev range (around 20bhp/20ft lbs throughout the range Tim reckoned) but this is yet to be tested on a rolling road! I should be able to keep up with standard 500s now Tim also reckons but this again is yet to be tested...
All in all I think these mods are an excellent addition to the car and are well worth the money! Next stage in the plan: full decat and a new ecu

I've got the carbon trumpets and the MA chip, fitting both gave me big leaps in throttle response. Not technically tested or anything, just gauged by the width of my smile
Not done the cheery bombs...yet...but if the neighbours annoy me anymore this week then they'll be on order!
Going to upgrade the dampers next
Enjoy!

Sounds good, I'm seriously considering changing mine for an ACT system. So excuse my ignorance but I presume you mated it to the existing manifold? or, did you purchase one of their stainless units? Not sure which way to go, or how much I can spend without being in the good lady's bad books

sadly not, the cherrybomb system is currently mated to the standard y-piece and manifolds but they will be replaced with the ACT stuff when funds allow! I'm not going to do them until i've changed the ecu though as I understand I will need a remap if I remove the cats so will probably do ecu, then manifolds and y piece, then plenum and stage 3 or 4 heads, uprated cam and bigger injectors - although this will take a fair while I suspect as i'm not on the worlds largest income just yet!
Thinking ahead a bit though, I had planned to upgrade to the MA tuned Tornado chip as my friend has but after reading around some previous posts on here, it seems that it may be better in the long run if I go straight to the Omex system (or equivalent). I'm having trouble finding out exactly what the benefits are of doing this over the Tornado chip though in order to work out which is the better price! Does anyone have experience on this? - remap costs, performance changes both in power and driveability etc. I also understand the Omex style replacement system would remove some inherent problems such as the dodgy otter switch etc (though fingers crossed mines been ok so far!) ...comments??

The induction stuff is 185 and the trumpets are about 290 I think ex vat so around 550 for the lot (sorry this keyboard is stuck on U.S format as i'm at work so can't make any pound signs!)
Fitting was free as I did it in my garage with Wildfire so just the odd favour and beer! Tim also popped round to drop off the kit and helped fit the induction kit and gave some pointers!

I got a complete system from ACT Ceramic Coated Manifolds, Twin Cats and Chery bomb Exhaust.
It now sounds f
G Amazing, especially between 3 - 5 k revs.
Money well spent.
Also it seems to set off a lot more car alarms now than it did before.
Db levels are about 100 at tick over and about 120 @ 3k revs.

How much was this please inc. fitting?

Do a ebay search of "TVR carbon" and you might get the trumpets a little cheaper
Edit: Just looked and I think the ones on ebay are smaller diameter ones doh
I also went the diy route, have a look here. If you want any more info PM me.

The ebay ones are also ours , but sold as DIY kits (loose trumpets and adhesive instead of supplied fitted in a base ready to fit), they are all the same trumpets but maybe the picture makes them look a smaller diameter.

Sorry Tim, I meant to say they are the 38mm ones as opposed to the 45mm ones needed for the Burrianas' 5L beast

Hi Rich, i see what you mean, unforetunately the 45mm trumpets are tricky to do fit so we haven't produced a DIY kit.
