Peter,

My RS is currently keeping your yellow number company at 9M. Unfortunatly Motec is beyond my means at this moment in time (later in the year hopefully!). Just out of interest have you approached your insurance company re. the Motec mods. If so any increase in premium?

I forgot to ask them. I'll do it today.

I thought I would be cool with waiting a few weeks without Scaramanga in my clutches, since I rarely drive it even at weekends these days, but now that I've seen the pre-upgrade dyno plot and the engine is out and being worked on..... I can't wait!

I understand Scaramanga posted a rather good pre-Motec dyno plot!

So post Motec+1 you should be approaching take-off speed coming out of Eau Rouge come May.....

I can't understand it. 293bhp! It doesn't feel *that* fast (obviously faster than anything Italian or from Blackpool ). Not as fast as yours, for sure - I'm sure you were pulling away at the 'ring last year and that wasn't just me being circumspect and coping with food poisoning.....

It is possible one of the previous owners chipped it, but as far as I knew it just had the std RS ECU plus Cup bypass plus Cup airbox and K&N air filter. I guess I'm just lucky!

AON seemed farly cool with the mods. I spoke to them and they just asked for an email. I guess fast cars are fast cars regardless of how much tweaking you do; if you cherish it you'll make sure it doesn't get stolen or crashed.

... and they just got back to me with an increase of £37.50 until the end of July when I renew, and an excess increase to £500 from £100. Renewal will be around the £800 mark, still better than I've been quoted elsewhere.

Conditions were: I am over 30 (sigh, yes I am) and have driven a high-performance car for over 2 years (well du-uh, yes I have....)

Is that about a £150 hike in premium (even more of of a reason to justify Motec!) Presumably some of that extra is because you have increased the insured value of the car. I see the Silver Motec RS (as featured in GTPP) was up for sale recently at mid 30's!

I've asked 9M to dyno my car whilst it's with them, although if it makes 290+ I'll be just as surprised as you were.

When will Scaramanga be finished? Let me know what the dyno results are and a first impressions report obviously needs to be posted.

I'm expecting to pick it up towards the end of the month/beginning of May. There is no great rush because my next track day (Spa/'ring) is not until the end of May and I'm super-busy in the interim, however the more I think about it the more I want it back again!

Of course a first impressions and dyno run thingy will be posted shortly after Scaramanga's return. Colin has his work cut out to maximise the power increase and make the gains noticeable, given it was so powerful in the first place!!!! But I'm confident I'll be a happy bunny when I get it back again .
