Anybody know what a standard diameter of trumpet is on an RV8 ?? Do they in fact differ on a 4.0, 4.5 or 5.0 ?? Just seen a polished and ported trumpet base with 45 mm trumpets claiming they increase flow 20% over standard scratchchin ??

Remember that if you change the diameter of your trumpets you will have to match them to your inlet manifold and heads.

Thanks for the info. I haven't ventured too much into all things mechanical yet but how easy is it to take off the top of the plenum to check ?? Does it simply unscrew and lift off ?

Just start from the plenum and follow your nose, it's very simple. But make absolutely sure you do NOT drop anything into the intake, because it can be an absolute pig to get it out and if you don't notice it you stand a good chance of wrecking the engine when you start it. Be absolutely paranoid, don't hold any tools or parts over the exposed holes and tape them off as soon as you can.

& re-seal the plenum chamber properly with the proper stuff otherwise it won't run very well at all.
