Need some advice from my friends here

The wife and I along with the boat anchors (kids) want to Holiday this summer in the UK. I would like to squeeze in some automotive fun and thought BBWF might be the ticket. Can anyone help me with dates and maybe some contacts for a place to rent a cottage. The wife would like scenery and has mentioned Scotland. Since us Yanks have a hard time navigating east of New York, I could really use some help.

I take it that you will be getting a hire (rental) car? If so pretty much anywhere is a days drive away so it's pretty much up to you. Only been to Scotland once myself but it does have very good scenery. For scenery also consider Yorkshire Dales, Wales, Devon and Cornwall, Lake District, lots to choose from really.

The venue itself is slap bang in the middle of Shakespears' Country. Plenty to see and do there.

Thats great to hear Russ - we already have Marshall, from the good ol US of A attending for the second time again but the more the merrier, I`m sure you`ll have a great reception and see many wonderful Wedges and their slightly less than normal owners!

Thanks for all the info Gents, I can't wait to go! Does anyone have a recommendation for an area to stay that will offer the more scenic areas with history? My wifes family is from Scotland and she wants to stay near there.

I will be making plans shortly for my trip. The info on the cottage site is exactly what I was looking for. Now a map and I'll be golden.

I would just add that Scotland is a long way away (200 miles - 3 hours) but that would not stop you traveling down on the Saturday and arriving at 12 noon like the rest of us.. at Ettington.

My preference of where to stay would be somewhere like the west coast of Scotland like Ullapool - as it's stunning around there..
but only if you are staying for a week.

Seriously, I was thinking that we would stay in Scotland and then trek to England, London area before leaving. On the way, we could visit BBWF! Genius on my part, my wife will never know it is in the plans and my kids will love it!

Sounds like a plan, Russ. I've already made my reservation at Ettington Chase for Saturday night. Look forward to seeing you and yours there for the Fest. Wouldn't it be great if we could both have our cars there as well?
