Saxo is King
Average Saxo owning yoof spends 3K on bolt on bits

My 106 GTI (closely related to the Saxo, but better!) is the d's b's. Nothing wobbly about the handling there. Sharp steering, manic throttle response and tail slides on demand. Ideal for livening up the daily commute.
Also own a Chimaera 400, which livens up the weekends a treat too.

Cockers...how mate? HOW ON EARTH do you do it, get up in the morning, look in the gargae see your TVR and the Pug together and think to yourself 'Ohhh I'll take the Pug'.
I too have a Chimaera, I also have a company car and more often than not the Chimaera is in the company car park!

Cockers you must be out of your mind, how can you say the 106 GTI handles well. I've driven the 106 and the handling at best could be described as "good for its class" in other words cr*p. You drive a sports car for crying out loud how on earth can you describe the Pug or any hot hatch as having "sharp steering" they all are vague and tilt alarmingly on any corner you hit at greater than 50. Steering feedback gives no notice of whats going on and the understeer is awful.
I would get your Chim suspension checked.

Guys, I've owned cerberas and the old esprit sport 350 that I'm always harking on about so I think I'm qualified enough (barely) to know what a good handling car is about.
Reason for above is to qualify what I'm about to say which is that Cockers is absolutely correct and the 106 GTI (note the TLA, a 106XL ain't the same) is a great handling little car. Around the urban sprawl is has to be said these little hothatches are great fun as they allow you to race about without achieving the insane spees we do in the "real" cars. I had a 306GTi6 and that was bloody fantastic and I even took it on a track day at Bedford where it held it's own against a lot of badly driven exotica.
I really do think it's all down to what you do with the car 95% of the time - I sold the 4.5 cerbie as it was a waste of a great car (I was too busy to take it out on any more track days and it was poodling in town all the time).

Let's face it, the Saxo is a good girlie car. I know two who own them and they love their motor for its' "cute" looks.
But no self respecting male over the age of 21 should consider it as an object of desire. Unless you are part of the max power brigade, and if you have such unspeakable taste, then you have my sympathies.
Buy a man's car, for chrissake.

Dubbs - agreed. If you actually like cars and driving in general, rather than just your own particular wagon, you can feel when something else is well set up.
Did I say I would rather drive the 106 than the Chimaera? No, of course not. But I still enjoy the 106, even after I've stepped straight out of the TVR.
Different driving style (lift rather than accelerate round corners) and different priorities.
I may transfer my fluffy dice from the 106 to the Chimaera, to confuse the enemy.
