PORSCHE 911 997 C2S vs 911 996TT
Discussion
Morning chaps,
just wanted to post a new topic to lighten up the day.
Finally got shot of my 2004/54 c2s. Got the money I was looking for as well. Now car free and looking non stop for the BLACK 996 TURBO - MANUAL. Got about £50k to play with or if the right car comes along will go up to about £55k.
About the c2s i just got shot off - Loved it at the start but gradually got sick and bored of it. Pretty much was the same episode last year in may when i gave OPC £51,990 for there Cayman S. This car only lasted 5 weeks before i chopped it in for there C2S 997.
After being in and driving a few 996TT`s i gave in and am completely at there mercy - just amazing. Theres now way anyone could ever get bored or lose enjoyment with this car, unless they grade up to the 996TT.
You 996TT owners are lucky sons of bitches. When i get mine, which i will - no matter what the MR`s says i will grin every minute of the time i sit in the drivers seat.
Drove many cars since i got the c2s last year, probs just weighing them up for when it came to replace it. 360 dindt like the manual or f1 gear box and lambo gallardo - couldnt get used to the driving postion.
Then it all comes down to the Turbo - not bad points just a bit to quick to the untrained right foot !!!!!
When i finally get the 996TT i plan to keep it for a little bit longer than the last few cars i have had - just to get the full pleasure of the beast.
For me i am just a porsche fan, not a bonus packed banker that goes for the 996TT tiptronic !
All the cars at present all seem to be tip`s - us poor guys want manual - the way a sports car should be - to drive it - to fully enjoy it & whats more to unleash it on the open road.

KAYC I suppose you are correct if all he wants is a fast motorway cruiser.
If on the other hand he wants something to challenge his driving skills a GT3 would seem to fit the bill ?
Lots of cars fit the bill if you want a challenge..My Escort Mexico was a challenge because the back kept trying to overtake the front..it didnt make for fast a-b travel though. This rumour that the tt drives itself i always find amusing because it normally comes from people who have never driven one quickly on 'b' roads etc..they are quite a handful as per most 911's..the tt just does a better job of it thats all.If on the other hand he wants something to challenge his driving skills a GT3 would seem to fit the bill ?
Just saw this black on black 996 Turbo in the Autotrader - KennyDunn.co.uk

But that Aerokit doesnt do it for me.
If only it was either without it or with the 996 turbo aerokit, may have took the plunge.

Wow, we'll agree to disagree on that one - GT2 aerokit looks fantastic IMHO - only down sides for me are solid black paint (nightmare for scratches I imagine) and lack of PCM.
