Thinking about S....!

I have missed my old S so much that I'm seriously considering another.
I've owned a number of cars in 20 years and only ever repeated ownership twice and they were both BMWs.
I'm having trouble trying to think of anything else that will be as much fun and an uncommon sight and with such a nice sound
and great handling

and great handling One of my ex-girlfriends springs to mind...... on 2nd thoughts I' get yourself another S, it'll be cheaper in the long run

Thanks for the tip garfy, sadly it's the other end of the country and a long journey to view.
I'll have a search on fleabay and see if the owner can send nice large pics.

Having vowed I'd never own any type of car twice, I was lured back by my temptress of a V8S. £7k will get you one if you search around and are lucky, by the time the niggles on mine are sorted it would have cost me just over that I reckon, not perfect inside, but still induces the biggest grin ever
I haven't managed to get to see any S's as yet but I have a shortlist of other rag tops I wanted to try and I took an MGTF out earlier, a nice late car, low miles, clean and tidy etc but I sat too high in it and the ride was bumpy, the trim rattled, the gears were really notchy to engage and the brakes were terrible ...oh and it sounded like a fiesta. Despite the good write ups these little MGs get I now know I can cross them off my list
On to the next.....
However, I'm still most keen to look for another good S. I know them well and I know the pitfalls and I know what great fun they can be.

Been there and done that, you'll stuggle to find anything that tugs those heart strings in quite the same way, depending upon where you get your kicks possibly an Elise or Caterham(alike) might do it, I don't think anything sanitised will do the trick for you.
It took me five days of going cold turkey to relent on a sans-TVR experience, just glad I'm back now those few days were hell

Well, I have had a number of ideas.
I think the Fiat Barchetta is an excellent and overlooked roadster, more a tourer but still lively but has a great chassis and beautiful styling but every darn car I've enquired about has sold. Likewise every S I've seen that's suitable has sold.
I have seen a nice mid 90's Merc 300SLC AMG near me but it's a little over budget. I've also seen a mid 80's 500SL but that one is a bit too cheap and there's usually a reason for that

I used to have an '86 SL. Beautiful motor but completely different to the TVR.
The Merc was a very smooth ride, a real boulevard cruiser. Automatic (obviously), built like a tank and very practical. I still miss it...
The TVR is almost the exact opposite - but I love it even more!!

I found a nice 500SL AMG but the owner decided not to sell it!
Anyway, I started looking at Alfa Spiders and found me a very nice Lusso with full leather and very low miles and full Alfa history. I'm very pleased with it so far

I think rigamortis would have been evident before finishing it
So I decided to cut my losses, sell the donor Pontiac and the kit and plough that back into the money I had saved to spend on the build and as luck would have it I could afford something fairly decent having saved for a year ....or so!
I couldn't find a good S which had not already sold on my budget (£6.5k) so I bought an italian stallion and had some cash left over!
I was extremely interested in buying another S, just not the right time I guess. On a plus side, I didn't get wet driving to work with the hood up this morning like I used to in my S (even after new seals)
This won't be my daily driver, just for sunny days and weekends
