I'm contemplating either a cerbera or tuscan next month.
Can someone give me a brief breakdown of the Cerbera engine choices i.e. type, capacity, power output and what's considered best/most usable please?
And to save me cross posting, if someone knows the same for a Tuscan i would be delighted

As for colour, i meant i like blue and black on either cerbera or tuscan. That's what happens when you try to type surreptitiouslyat when the boss is about!
Good man - a sound choice either way. I'm sure many will have their opinion, and this is only mine: each and every mechanic I've talked to has said that the Speed Six (4.0 Litre) engine is a liability. I've owned both 4.2 and 4.5 litre cerberas. The 4.5 litre has been re-worked and is now phenomenal, but the 4.2 was also a terrific performer. Over to you...
The cerb has AJP V8 4.2 and 4.5, book figures are 360hp and 420hp, the 4.0 speed six engine is 350hp. In the Tuscan its 4.0 speed six 360hp or 390hp in the "s". Some Tuscans have 3.6 version of the speed six engine. In my opinion the V8 is best, and sounds best and I've heard the 4.2 is smoother and more driveable than a 4.5, mine's great to drive in or out of town (but I'm biased)
This is the Cerbera forum -so obvioulsy you have to choose the Cerbera.
Unless your an ardent fan of straight six engines, then go for an AJP V8.
Both cars in standard form are about the same power output. 4.2 feels quicker as it is a more revvy engine with a definite powerband(s). The 4.5 'feels' like a heavier car and has a more constant wall of power. Both are amazing cars. Dont look specifiacally for a 4.2 or a 4.5, and also dont look for a particular colour. Look at all of them and just choose the one that feels right.
Forget all the helpful fastest colour remarks, thay always crop up

I have the speed six engine in mine & its never missed a beat. its also a little smoother than the other two, and with higher profile tyres & a gentler ride, its easier to live with day to day. As to the reliability, it all depends on
1/ How you wam them up --CRITICAL (never trash it from cold )
2/ How well the engine was put together --earlier engines had poor quality components from some outsourced manufacturers -- (finger followers being a prime example)
3/ This applies to all three engines - You must NOT skimp on the servicing intervals. Tappets must be done on time , and do not think you can run this type of car on a small budget. That said, mine hasnt really needed anything , and its a pure joy to drive - best car I have ever owned.

Actually I'm glad someone else has made that point, I know its just banter but it does become a bit tedious when any thread discussion that could be interesting and useful to a Cerb owner ends up as such banality.
All this fastest colour stuff really annoys me, the first time it cropped up it was mildly amusing, now it's pathetic. Someone asks a serious question about a Cerbera and up pop the 'Mines fastest because it's blue/red/purple/yellow!!! FFS I keep wondering if I have accidentally entered the "Max Power Chav Saxo owners" forum by mistake.
