HRCR unveils scenic tour season

Older cars deserve fun days out too

none
The Historic Rally Car Register has unveiled an expanded programme of scenic tours for 2007, with eight events aimed squarely at owners of older cars who like to take part in social and non-competitive events.

Scenic tours have no competitive element and timing is only used to spread the entry out. The emphasis is on a relaxed, social, fun event in the company of like-minded people in some of the most beautiful parts of the country. No competition licences or membership of a particular car club are required. The 2007 schedule is as follows:

Sunday 22 April

The Corinium Run is organised by the Cirencester Car Club and is a fuel efficiency run through the beautiful Cotswolds, covering around 100 miles.

Saturday 5 May

The Bluebell Run is organised by Ross & District Motor Club and follows a 120-mile route taking in the magnificent display of bluebells that abound the Forest of Dean at this time of year.

Sunday 20 May

The Three Counties Tour is a new event to the series organised by Croydon and District Motor Club, taking in approximately 120 miles of the Surrey/Sussex Downs and the Kent Weald.

Saturday 16 June

The HRCR Northern Delights Tour is another new event, organised by HRCR members in the North West. The route will pass through villages used for TV and films in Lancashire and then move further into the Dales and across moors using some classic rally roads.

Saturday 21 July

The HRCR Economy Run will cover the Cheshire Plains, the Derbyshire Dales and the Staffordshire Moorlands. Last year the event raised over £1000 for Save the Children and the aim is to repeat that in 2007.

Sunday 23 September

The Classic Harvest Tour is organised by The Sunbeam Rapier Owners Club, and runs in parts of the Thames Valley, West Berkshire and North Hampshire.

Sunday 21 October

The Donor Card GT will run for the sixth time and again all profits will be donated to charity, with over £25,000 already raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The event will cover around 120 miles of the quietest lanes. Details are still being finalised and will be updated on the HRCR Web site as they become available.

Sunday 4 November

Autumn Leaves Scenic Tour, a popular event run by HRCR members in the Gloucestershire area, which takes in the stunning scenery and beautiful colours in the Royal Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley in the autumn.

I know its owner. He won't have put it there if he wasn't convinced it'd be OK.
