NASCAR on TV in UK?!
Discussion
Right, ready for Sunday I have
1) Beer check
2) Setanta/NASN subscription check
3) NASCAR caledar check
Yet what I lack is any confirmation as to whether the Cup race on Sunday will be on TV live. Apparently Setanta & NASCAR are still in "negotiations". Anyone know? Or have suggestions how to view the race, not involving airline tickets and the Internet?

Thanks!
I foresee not being at my sharpest later that day in work.
The beer will have to stay in the fridge too, not enough time between bottle & throttle

Isn't it on Motors? Channel 413 on Sky.
I don't mean Men and Motors either.
I don't mean Men and Motors either.
Maxi Test, followed by RC Racing, followed by 3d motors, followed by Party Cycle.
But then who believes whatever the SKy schedule says what's on for Motors TV or for Eurosport for that matter since it's hardly ever correct. It'll probbaly be live Tennis, coverage of the Ulan Bator ladies invitational.

Channel 5?? Does this mean I should cancel the Setanta subscription, then? It's a bit pointless keeping it for NASCAR if they can't even tell me today whether or not they're going to be showing it...
I think C5 signed the deal for the 500 late (it's not listed in the RadioTimes). Last year they showed the 50min highlight package for each Nextel Cup race in the midnight sports slot one or two days after the race (and added it to the 7.00pm sports slot on five US, though a week later, and they skipped the final round).
So I guess it comes down to whether you want to see the whole race, live. The highlights are good enough, though there are some long gaps of the "Wait a sec. a hundred laps are missing. And what happened to Kahne???" type.

It is actually a form of stock car racing where drivers can legally shunt each other out of the way at speeds of 150mph plus.
Oh dear.
Oh dear.
Whats wrong with that description? its not wrong, they are allowed to "move" others as long as its not seen as intentional wrecking. Bump drafting is the name of the game at Daytona and Talladega, and most of the shorter tracks involve plenty of bump and runs.
As for who is showing it? TVU player.

I'm putting my money on lap 7, when they're all up to speed and start getting 4 wide, it always happens.
put me down for Lap 11.
I refuse to subscribe to NASN/Satanta or whatever they call themselves now. If only we could get this via Sky Box Office or something like that. If I can't see it live guess I will follow it via Nascar website.
I know there will always be people saying it's not proper racing etc, but I enjoy it, it entertains me. The noise from those cars must be amazing.
I remember a few years ago, that I was at the touring car meeting at Brands Hatch and they had one there doing some demo laps at lunchtime. iirc Andy Rouse was driving it. It looked very hard work getting it to go round the Indy circuit. I would love to go to one of the big races on day. Now there's an idea, how about a PH trip to see the good ol' boys of Nascar.
Teds trip to Talladega yeeeehaaaaa!
