And I also didn't read what you had written !
I ordered in October, no letter of intent, just a £2k deposit ona whim.
The balance of £8k paid around a month ago was a little more of a shock, with delivery promised ?
I asked them to commit to this year, which they did.
I hope this helps, --- there seems to be surprisingly little traffic on this subject !

Ordered Q1 last year and put 1k down. Put another 9k down in Jan and gave spec. Was given the nice hardcopy book but given NO delivery date. Audi beginning to make my blood boil. Spend another 20k and get a good low mileage gallardo. Cant belive Audi not telling anyone yet...no doubt the footballers will be given pref treatment. Tempted to pull order if no word within next month. Last year they reckoned May/June delivery. Think it will be more like Aug/Sep now so missing the summer months.
I was originally quoted May / June also but was told last week that this is more likely to be August / September -- have my meeting with the R8 team tomorrow so I might know more after that.
I had exactly the same delay problems on both an RS4 which I almost gave up on and a Q7 so I would not hold my breath

when did you put initial deposit (letter of interest) into Audi dealer? Looks like few people got the R8 team meeting at moment. Have had radio silence from my dealer. As much as i want the car im very reluctant to wait till Dec07 when all the hype will prob be about a r8 v10 by then. If told firm that Aug delivery then I will be patient.
Meeting with Audi yesterday. First cars are likely to be here for July although this may end up being 2-3 weeks either side. They are bringing 409 cars into the UK in the first year and then 700 in the next year. Orders for over 900 cars so far confirmed. 60+% will be manual cars in the UK.
Final specs will be confirmed 8 weeks prior to delivery so I would expect to be contacted in April or May to confirm. Orders will be fulfilled on the basis of receipt of initial deposits and they are trying to remove speculators.
Audi will be doing other discreet events over the next few months and then driving days with the car before customers take delivery. This is the second time I have seen the car ( and yesterdays is the only RHD car built so far ) and you will not be disappointed.
Still no plans confirmed for V10 and Audi are aware that they have to be very careful if they do bring out another version not to either price it too high or destroy residuals for V8 owners. They are very aware of the market place and how they need to control both the new and used markets

So they actually only have a twelve month waiting list.
Of course the V10 is confirmed, they are just not telling you when it is. If the V10 comes out summer/autumn 08 then it will be well known by this time next year and the V8 order book will go wobbly as will residuals. The V8 really is a car to get early and keep a few months or keep for a few years. People who keep it a year or two will probably suffer.
PS Remember the facelift 911 is due out early next year.
Audi seem to love keeping customers guessing.....I had a deposit down for an RS4 Avant for 18 months ahead of UK launch and they messed me around so much with false dawns or general lack of information that I gave up and bought another car instead, as I had sold my previous one in expectation of the Audi arriving roughly when initially indicated!
As it happens I waited until the RS4 was actually been delivered in UK and then went to a dealer and ordered one that arrived just 4 months later.
I ranted and raved at Audi UK as to why a company of their scale and organisation could not manage customer expectation more effectively. It is not as if they do not know in Germany when they are going to build the cars, they just seem reluctant to tell the dealers and customers, which I find bizarre.
It really put me off Audi but I have to say when I eventually got the RS4, all was forgiven. It will be same for the R8 - the engine is just divine so just keep being patient......

Question:
SO I've had my letter from "Jeremy Hicks - Director of Audi" - saying "During March we will be sending your R8 cuastomer box to your Audi Centre...to assist in specification....Once finalsied your AUDI cENTRE WILL SUBMIT YOUR INFORMATION....AND WE WILL PLACE YOUR ORDRER WITH PUR FACTORY"
So if I am speccing the car in March does this mean I will be getting one of this years cars??...and whats the consensus of opinion of when I would get the car on this basis? ....I am still in two minds as to whether to wait for the V10 or not??

Afraid not. These boxes went out in Nov/Dec for the early cars. You might make a tail end car. If you have the money and the need, then I would wait for the V10.
Yep I got my box in Dec and Spec'd car in early Jan. But stillllllllllllllllll....not a word from my dealer in London about when car is actually being delivered. As someone said, Audi's incompetence to manage client expectations is shocking. The 10k deposit I can handle (depsite some annoyance that they have it on deposit a/c making interest) but what's the point of asking for my spec in Jan and not telling me by March when car is coming. Perhaps the dealers no nothing BUT it's their job to keep hastling Audi HQ and convey how much effort they are making. NB/ one of my friends phoned up the largest Audi dealership in France in Jan and ordered - he is getting his in June with right and drive and UK spec....Is Audi UK just not in loop?????
Yeah - I called the dealer today "so you want me to spec the car NOW?" ....."yes please"....."but when will it arrive?"...dealer "sometime next year"...WTF!
So why spec it a year in advance? The cynic would suggest so they can get your £10k from you.
No thanks...I will sell my C4S - buy a Ford GT - and hold on for the first of the R8 V10's
Here's a thought - more than that actually as it came from inside Audi - and you won't like it. Audi are asking for specs. so far in advance so that they can determine which specs. are the most popular and then produce them in batches - more economical for them. In other words if you really are the very first person in the UK to have ordered a car but you order a weird colour combo/spec you may not actually get your car as soon as someone who ordered their car after you but plumped for a more commonly requested spec. Think I'm wrong? - just compare the specs. of the first quarter deliv. cars when they arrive.
A few years ago I had a MK1 ClioV6 on order. There appeared to be quite a range of colours to choose from but, unless you picked silver, there was no way you were going to get an early car. But at least Renault were up front about it.

Been told by dealer that i will be CONFIRMED delivery by end of March. That is a London dealer. Pretty perturbed by the last comment re delivery times/spec's etc....ah well...another piece of sub standard audi client management. If no delivery time by end of March, someone else will have their car touch earlier as I alike other member shall buy another car and wait for the v10 or the RSR8 or the convertible. Think Im just about to write to a Consumer's Association about false promises Audi made....
As I understand it, Audi are currently doing the rounds to show those with deposits in place, the one RHD R8.
Being one such soul, I was told that following this, the Audi team will be advising those who are currently out of pocket their £10k's, where they are in the queue.
Calm down, it's only an advertisment ....
