spivvy.....first forget about anything turtlewax, its all middle of the road crap. For best protection and shine this is what i use and the car looks amazing..... autoglym super resin followed by blitz wax. autoglym is avaliable from halfords and blitz by mail order only from frost.co.uk again forget zymol, swissol they are all marketing hype. Dont waste you money.

well, my 2p worth - have always used Mer before and found it fairly good.

just tried Zymol as recommended to get cat scratches out - and the car looks fabulous with it done and got fairly deep cat scratches out after several applications and some elbow grease.

maybe expensive and may be some marketing hype as Mark says, but i have found it v good. and it smells like sun cream so makes you think you are on holiday.

I've gone the Autoglym route... got me the nice case jobbie (about £40) which has the wash, polish, glass cleaner, sponge and polishing cloths etc etc...) and I've been VERY happy with the results...

Autoglym super resin. Every time. Comes up a treat and cleans the rear perspex too. Did mine on sunday. Must have been good because monday morning off to work and I found a cat or 10 had had their night time spring mating rituals all over it. I HATE cats...

remember super resin is a polymer sealant and not a wax, so for best results top with a carnauba wax.

shouldn't it be wax first and then sealant ?

I tend to rinse the car first then wash it or you might find you scratch the paint with the dirt that is on the car

i have already detarred,t-cut etc before i put the original wax on

so the sequence is
rinse the dirt off
wash the car
dry it
use something like super resin to seal it
and then a good quality wax ???
and show shine on top

all agreed

Be careful about the type of detergent when you re wash as MOST will take off all the wax from the previous waxing so you wont get any buid up of wax

Johnson's baby shampoo is good and relatively cheap

Sorry if your irked but you dont want to strip off bloody good wax and alot of effort
Only trying to help

word of caution on this though - be v careful on the first few corners after application. whilst you can be careful to ensure it only goes on the tyre walls it is easy to get it on the tread and can cause some sideways moments

Im having trouble getting clay as Zymol now only sell to "pros" and is not available from them where do you get yours?

I havent mentioned it as

1 Use it wrong and its tears time
2 He's only starting proper cleaning/waxing and i dont like confusing people

believe it or not but hafords of all people used to do it, dicontinued now, but bought a few blocks for £1.49 each, a right result..... and its better than the megs "small" block. You seen how much zymol want for a bar? 60 quid..... i think that is taking the pi$$ somewhat. Ive never had any truble using it either? no streaks or scratches.
