aaarghhh! oil leak ! ALARMMMMM!!!!!

seems to be escaping via the sandwich plate for the oil filter take-off? is this common? is it easy to fix?

(btw the alarm ref in title of this post refers of course to tv film 'das boot' which if you have seen it will understand and for those who haven't seen it BUY IT NOW from amazon as its really damn good and you get about 6 hours worth of good telly. it will also remind you never ever to get on a submarine..)

That sandwich plate has an oil seal exactly the same as on an oil filter. If tightening the big nut doesn't stop it, it's quite easy to undo it and replace the seal. Just buy a new filter to get the seal, then use the new filter and seal of the old one on your next filter change.
