Discussion
Yup, 2.5T are the only ones available as manual, V8s are autobox's

also what do people reckon of the 2.5TT supra in terms of:
reliability
driver involvement
im guessing comfort and quality are a given on that car!
obviously im not looking for an Elise-like experience, but is it TOO wafty to be fun?

What like mine?
It's been solid so far, no reliability problems at all. Its 15 years old so there are bound to be things that need doing from time to time but it hasn't broken yet (touch wood!).
Driver involvement? Well it's certainly no Elise At the end of the day its more of a GT car than a sports car, its big and heavy so it'll never win any awards for outright grip. To me (and that's not saying much, I'm no driving expert...) it seems well balanced though and you can certainly have some fun with it. Just don't expect to go chasing 2 seater sports cars through the twisties
I'm going to take it on a drift day at Oulton Park next month which should be a laugh anyway.

You'd be suprised who we'll hassle on the twisties... Nice to see it gets track time! Are you on MKIIISupra.net?

I have been considering a nice cruisy boosted (2.5T) Soarer for a daily drive to replace my Saab, perhaps this summer but are they ALL automatics? I have never seen a manual Soarer, but were they ever sold? And what is the big Soarer like to drive?
They only ever made 280 manual ones, of which there are obviously not that many left (my engine & box came from a rolled one) Manuals do command a premium I doubt you'll find one for less than £5k. Other than that they are very fast cars (170mph delimited) even as lardy as they are, handling is good for a luxo barge too, very good I'd say. Get one with TEMS adjustable suspenion for the sportier days, avoid ones with the airbag system they are not reliable.
Only things to look out for are lower front rubber bushes, flicky dashpods a weird spaceage thing & dashvents that fall out, thats about it.
