OK, I'm already putting the flame suit on, in case any of the Ferrari listers are lurking.
I'm a total Lotus 'mark', but I love other marquees as well. I think the 360 Spyder is one of the most beutiful cars ever made, and the Murc and Gallardo have fantastic styling.
However, I was out yesterday afternoon, and I saw a yellow Ferrari 550. Immediately I got excited, like I do whenever I see an exotic on the road. But it instantly left me, because the car just looked so damn plain jane. I was completely unimpressed with it, and if not for the prancing horse on the front, I probably wouldn't have even noticed it.
Just my impression...ready to take the flames now.

Sunday (13th APR) we went out on an UK Esprit run round Oxford with 15 of the lads and lasses and was joined, albeit after the fun, by a 550 Maranello. Don't know if he pitched up after to avoid being left behind! Looked nice up close, pleasant to sit in with the stainless gear gates and leather and the engine was quite impressive even if it was in the front, but I thought the style had been copied onto the latest Celica which kind of tainted it a bit for me. Have to admit it was a good looker though. The owner was an ok bloke and he was welcome as well as the 111s that pitched up. Nice to see a different exotic too, kind of puts things in perspective. The first run we did a chap in a Tuscan race car showed up and took a couple of the fellas for a spin. They were suitably awe'd. I think we should make it a theme...

550 is just not a pretty car. I really dont like the direction ferrari has headed since the death of Enzo. Look back at the cars they were building in the 70's and 80's, those were some sexy, tempermental, high maintenance playthings. Owning a Testarossa was like dating a supermodel.. an enormous headache but worth all the effort. The only recent car they have made that I would dare to call sexy is the 456, which they sold very few of and has a pitiful resale value. The 575, 360, and enzo are all supercars but I would take a Testarossa, 288 gto, 246 gts, or F40 over them any day.
