Bl**dy Fuel Pump not priming!!!!

Hi Guys

Just fitted my new TCS whirlwind kit and performance chip, also changed the clutch master cylinder seals too and very excitedly cleared all the tools away so I could take her out to see how she performs!!

Jumped in the car, all excited, to find the bl**dy fuel pump won't prime! Checked the fuse and looked at relay but not priming when pressing black button so she won't start.

Any ideas for me to check? I did turn off that shiney power off key before disconnecting the ECU to fit the chip, could this be the route of my problem? I know they are funny like that.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.

I would try hot wiring the immobiliser? Pretty straightforward thing to do.

The car turns over no problem, it's the fact that the pump is not priming that it won't start...no fuel! But why??

Please help somebody before I hit the bottle!

have you put the immobiliser key in the "plug" to the front left of the gearstick? It sounds like you have been immobilised. The car will turn over but the engine wil not fire. It's the only thing I can think of unless for your fuel pump is dead (or you have no fuel )-+

Thanks Rework,just tried your suggestion but no better, you are right it is on the boot bulthead above the petrol tank just of centre to the nearside.

Any other suggestions?

you say you have fitted a new ecu chip. make sure all the chip legs are located. very easy to bend and miss the slot on the board . one leg could be folded in and you cant tell unless you pull the chip back out.

hmmm !cant help but thinking if it ran ok before it could be a faulty chip. ecu connector block located fully ?
you have put the master key back in havent you and turned it on ??? sorry if you have !!!!

Maybe the master key is broken? They arent mounted well and so may have spun behind the dash?

Key back in OK, normally never have a problem with it but normally never touch it, will inspect closer tomorrow.

Hi Mick, Good idea I will try original chip in morning just to make sure!

I'm thinking this will be something not relating to what I've fitted but possibly disturbed something.

Where's that 3rd bottle of red gone...

Good morning guys, I've found the problem!!!

Changed the chip over just now, removed the new one and replaced the original and it works!! Then remembered that when fitting the new chip I had to guess which way around to fit it in the housing as it didn't say.

Decided to remove original chip again and fit the new one in a different position and that now works OK too. It's now apparent that I fitted it around the wrong way, although how was I to know!

Job done now so going out to try her!!
