Driving home last night, 40mph in a 40, 9pm and three cars (and one police van) on a dual carriageway.

Police van up me behind, so that I could just about see the reg plate if I sat square up. The road changes to a NSL so I accelerate to 60 (still 10mph under) and the police van drops back. Round a roundabout to the A19, hitting 70mph and away we go...

I see blue lights in the distance - thinking that he's been told to go to a shout and that he'd not stop me cos a: I'd done nothing wrong and b: I was on the A19 with no stopping places.

Hah yeah right, up me backside again, blues on, flashing me like a madman to pull over. So, here's me thinking well where do I stop - not wanting to irritate him any more etc so I throw the hazards on and stop - IN THE LEFT HAND LANE (as there is nowhere to stop) and very VERY cautiously get out.

Apparently his Iveco wagon had a calibrated speedo and I was doing 50mph in a 40 and he had to do 100mph to catch me in the 70. I stuck to my guns, saying I was doing 40mph (which I was) and 70mph, the reason he had to do 100mph was because my car will accelerate faster than his truck therefore I was obviously going to put some distance inbetween him and me.

Walk away with a 7 day wonder, which he said I was called 'Jones' (which I'm not) and that I was driving a F plate 205 (try R plate 306!) After correcting him and having a bit daft chat on (as I do, treat them human - they treat me human etc - no jip) I ask, off the cuff if he'd had a busy day - the reply was "nah, it's been dead quiet tonight"... guess why I was stopped!

Anyway, ffwd to today, going to see a car - 40mph dropping to a 30, I'm at 35 as we get to about 150 yards before the 30 limit, all I hear is "SLOW DOWN!" so I avert my attention from the road (and the motorcyclist turning left) to the side of the road to see a copper screaming frantically at me. I just nod and resume concentrating on the road, by this time down to about 30mph still 50 yards before the 30 sign... he did look a bit miffed (and out of breath) as I think he was chasing someone who got away.

(bearing in mind I checked my speedo against one of those school "watch your speed" boards (A good thing!) and at 30 on the clock I'm really doing 28mph.

I must just have one of those faces!

Not as bad as me.

Been pulled twice on charge of stealing my car, and arrested for stealing my own credit card.

Couldn't sue, to this day they claim they had 'reasonable grounds for suspicion' that some kind of fraud was going on.

I've taken a lot of advice over it and nobody can find a way round it. The arresting officer was within her powers, she was just being a complete . Either that or she genuinely had an IQ of 1.2 and couldn't imagine how it may have been taken (it was intercepted in the post).

That was simply an estimate. They may have allowed her an exemption as she was so ugly.
