Do any of you know anything about power steering?

My car, Ford Focus has developed a slight fault. It appears that its leaking Power Steering Fluid. Not being an expert on mechanics ive a few issues with this and would greatly appreciate somebodys help on this.
firsty how corrosive is power steering fluid, i mean will it corrode the paintwork on the underside of the bonnet if it comes into contact, which it has?
Atm im just topping it up with more fluid until i get it to a garage 9am monday morning. The leak seems to be quite close to the alternator, will this cause a problem?
Since the fluid is hitting the belts on the engine, thus spraying everywhere, will this cause problems for the belts?
How much is it likely to cost, ballpark to get a new pipe if required. How much roughly will it be for labour. Anybody had similiar experiences with other cars?
Should these pipes have been checked in a service?
Right now the fluid seems to be accumulating at the bottom of the engine bay, in places it can accumulate, how difficult will it be for a garage to clean this out?
Id greatly appreciate any help with this

most likely failure point will be the power steering pump - very common ford failing - this stuff will rot through the belt and could also damage the alternator if it gets inside - I don't think I've ever seen it damage paintwork and the mess will steam clean off with no problem
good luck with it
